The stuff she said was nothing that crossed his lips but she knew anyway! I was so impressed I went back the next day for my own reading. How to remove barriers in his life, what was holding him back, etc. It was exactly what I think the hubby needed to hear. She does a reading with “bones” and does what some call “rootwork” or hoodoo. We live close to Casadega so I was expecting a psychic reading but Mamma Starr gave us so much more I don’t think I can see a psychic again! I saw a sign in the window for s reading and thought the hubby could use one. It was clean, well lit with friendly people there. After going to the stereotypical “voodoo shop” I happened to see Conjure. We’ve had serious ups and downs so it was a much needed trip. Don’t miss it – it is fun, original, well-run and a great place to do some drinking. My husband and I went to New Orleans for our 11th anniversary trip. It had a nice outside area, too, for conversation and smoking. Sadly, we had just eaten recently and so had to forego the French country-style petite menu, although we did indulge in the bacon jam with crostini, which was to die for! We were lucky that we had arrived in the late afternoon as this popular place is really jumping at night. when the liquor was added, it melted into a delicious boysenberry martini! Loved it! My husband opted for the Hemingway’s Daiqueri, which had a nice, smoky flavor and a surprise sweetness at the bottom from a flavored maraschino cherry. He also introduced us to the innovative selection of exotic drinks – so hard to choose! I finally settled on the Knotty Kid, which was boysenberry cotton candy in a martini glass. We were greeted by Matthew, the general manager, who went out of his way to show us around and explain the décor, including the owner’s themed artwork (all done by her) of female protagonists throughout history. We had read about this place in Westways Magazine and thought we’d stop by on our way home from another engagement. This spooky little place is filled with scary sights – perfect for any time of year, but particularly appropriate for Halloween season! As you enter the two large wooden doors guarded by skeletons of evil wolves with red eyes and snapping jaws, you will see a giant eyeball staring at you from within a mirror, and a black (holographic) cat winding its way in and out of bottles on the bar. Right across from Knott’s Berry Farm is The Cauldron Spirits and Brews. My only request is one more vegan food option. Their Salad du Jour ( apple slices, dried cherries, pecans, mixed spring lettuce with apple cider vinaigrette. They only have one vegan menu item but it was delicious. $5 Well drinks $1 off beer & wine & my favorite $2 off menu specialty drinks The food menu is delectable french dishes & desserts. They also have a happy hour which is their Witching Hour ( Midnight - 2am ) Available on Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's. They also have "Witch Wine?" sundays which is their bottles of wine are 1/2 priced. Definitely follow them on Instagram because they post when they are having wine pairings & prix fixe menu dates. ![]() ![]() I haven't even tried their brew list which has beer names like Voodoo Stout, Dragons Milk, Phantom's Bride, Bootlegger and Apricot Ale. My two favorites so far is the Black Cauldron ( coffee martini with Kahlua, vodka and cold press coffee ) and the Blood Lust martini ( Vampyre Red English Grain vodka and Blavod Black German Vodka cosmopolitan). I have tried 11 of their specialty cocktails and I still have 13 more to go. ![]() Just ask her to make the specialty potion of the month and enjoy. My favorite bartender is Misty, she introduced me to the witches brew shot which was so yummy. Their specialty drinks are constantly changing. I love discovering new cocktails and this bar delivers 100 times over. This 17 century witch themed bar is magical!!! From the amazing paintings on the wall, to all the small details decorating the bar (a heart pumping in a jar, a jar full of eye balls, magical mirrors, jars with captured fairies, little men climbing the walls, skeleton wallpaper, antique furniture, picture frames in the bathroom, smoking cauldron and a hidden room behind a book case.) The hidden room is available to rent for yourself or up to 12 people.
